Pay Per Click Advertising
Typically this is Google Pay-Per-Click and is generally a word ad. A business “bids” how much they are willing to pay to have their listing (or ad) shown when someone enters a particular keyword. This puts your ad at the top of the search results.
Depending on how much demand there is you could pay anywhere from 5 cents to over $50.00 for a click. Keep in mind you are paying “per-click.” That means you pay even if someone doesn’t buy but just goes to your website.
Your “rate of conversion” will determine what your real cost. For example, if you have to get 50 people to your website to get a sale and you paid $5 a click your actual cost is $250 for a sale.
With Pay-Per-Click you can target your ads by geography, time of day and by keywords.
These ads are display ads that are carried across different websites.
They are typically sold by “Impression,” that is, how many times someone sees the ad. As a result, they are usually less expensive that a typical Pay-Per-Click ad.
You can choose the types of website you ad shows along with other demographics.
